"Okay Colonel you take the East, and I'll take the North!"

Why is Adobe After Effects so fun when you have to use it? I always like Visual Effects and doing what ever you could think of imagining. Well when you know how to use After Effects Professionally you can do alot of really cool stuff! Now I'm no professional but I know how to use the basics of After Effects.

Gee, what did I do today... Well I worked, and sitting here talking about how cool after effects is but thats about it. When I posted on how I was going to make documentary but not a serious one, I meant it. It's going to be about a Dog, and how he has to protect the yard from dangerous things crossing, also he has to make plans on what to scout, it could be the sewer one day and the North side of the fence the next, you never know only the General knows with his partner the Colonel. That should be fun on a nice bright day. It's interesting watching my dog patrol the backyard, so I figured he would be my little video, oh and I can't forget his 3 partners.

Okay so I have 4 shih tzus, I have the Dad (Gizzy) and the Mom (Ruby), and the 2 kids, Casper and Daisy.

Now The General is of course Gizzy and he even acts like one too. But he is a very loving dog when he is around his family (Me and my family lol), and Ruby is my little princess I used to call her that all the time when she was very little because she is always perky and spins around in circles. Then we have Casper (The Colonel) who follows Gizzy around the backyard all the time and try to copy him too, but Casper loves attention and does not like being messed with (I know that as a fact :P). Finally we have Daisy, she is the Brat in the family because if you pick on her she just goes up a wall! Also she's Miss Innocent because thats how she acts, we can't forget that every time you surprise her or get her excited she like to pee, pee and the water bills starts going.

But thats my dogs!

Stay tuned for more of the Journey

Did you know...

Hey guys! Well I just got done editing a orchestra video for Washington University Pops Orchestra! You can check this out here http://www.youtube.com/user/wupopsorchestra.

So if you guys didn't know I have a youtube page, I used to do alot of stuff with it but it's became a very slow progress but soon to be flowing again after winter. I bought a new camera (Kodak Zi8) and can't wait to test it out on a nice bright day! But I was thinking about making some videos of ours vehicles (2009 Malibu LT, and the 2009 Silverado LT), and also maybe a "Documentary" but not a boring one, more like a Fictional but based on a Real deal, but will see how that goes.  Okay so that youtube page of mine, you can check it out here

Oh and anyone reading this, I would love for you to comment below!

Sorry guys!

Well I fail at blogs don't I? Well I know I haven't been posting anything lately but I think I'm going to change the name of the blog to Bboy's Journey instead of Bboy's Lua Journey.  I figured this way I can post anything I want without it being all about lua and I can post my projects all of that cool stuff.

You know I do other stuff instead of learning about lua. So for now on I will turn this blog into a everyday blog!

So what have I learned about lua since I've been gone? Nothing! Thats right I didn't keep up with it after day 3 lol. But like I said, I'll try posting every once in a while.

Sorry guys who read my blog

Day Three: Functions and Tables

So today I went through Function and tables, when I toke a look at function on Day 1, I said to myself "I hope this isn't going to be some taboo thing and have a headache at the end of the day..." But when I looked threw it and did the examples, it is actually was fairly simple! I bet this can save alot of time while building a lua script so I tried taking this in as much as I can, it can be gone threw some more on day four but will see.

Next the Tables, now I couldn't see how the tables worked I tried making the example code and I think it should be called a scoreboard than a table, but thats just me I will probably go through this again as well.

So day three was rough, it's getting slightly more difficult and I'm going to have to take more time on one page then just read, read... Test, learned. More like read 5 times make a couple of example lua scripts and experiment with them, you get the point :P.

Now any of you out there that might be reading this might say, "Where was day two Bboy?" Well I had company over and wasn't even able to touch the computer because I was so busy. But I don't usually have that kind of company over regularly. Sorry guys!

Hard when you don't know the basics

Day One: It's Lua, not LUA.

Well my first day actually went well! I am using the tutorial at wiki.garrysmod.com (Tutorial link Click Here) and it's really easy to read and understand. When I first started off I just read threw it and didn't write notes or test out the examples I just read, read, read, and just couldn't keep the information into my head! Then I decided that I would test them out on Garry's Mod, "Woah woah wait a minute Bboy. Whats Garry's Mod?" Well little timmy, it's a were you build stuff and play little gamemodes like "Zombie Survival" and "Roleplay" then you can get all advanced and make actual bots, living robots out of a bunch of props! It's real fun when you get a hand of it! Now lets get back to testing out the lua script on the game. Now when I wrote the lua myself (Well I guess, I didn't just copy it and right click and click copy and then pasted it into notepad.)I replaced for example, "myName = "Jeff"" to "myName = "Bboy"" so it could help me memorize these basic scripts. For me, just coping and pasting the example code to notepad will not help me learn it, I have to give it a little twist in order for me to actually take it in.... Going on....

I Didn't know that Lua didn't actually mean anything! In fact, Lua was created a long time ago by a computer graphic technology group in Brazil, And In portugese it means "moon".

Oh and my first Lua script was "Msg("Hello World!")", we have to keep the tradition.

"So what did you learn in day 1 Bboy?" Well I learned about the "myName = "Bboy"" so that everytime you make a message... you know what let me show you another example of what I learned!

"myName = Bboy
Msg ("Welcome aboard "..myName.."!")

Now this little code is just saying "Ok so everytime you say ..myName.. I will replace it with Bboy."

And the last one I learned was

"local age = 15 if age > 20 then Msg("You are over 20! Get out!\n") elseif age < 9 then Msg("You are to young to join DX Land!\n") else Msg("Welcome to DX Land!\n") end"

Now what this is saying is that the age is 15, but if the age is over 20 then displays the message, or if the age is under 9 then displays the message.

But thats about it really Stay tuned for Day 2.

Introduction

Hello, well as you can see this is my first blog post in my entire life! I decided to make this blog because, well, I've never really had no reason to make one before so now I have this opportunity to have one! When I decided to make a blog about my lua learning, I thought to myself "If this blog gets 1 view or 100 thousand views I can always look back at my journey (If everything goes according to plan) and laugh at my self!" I've always wanted to learn Lua but when trying to learn scripting my mind just explodes when I start looking at the large amount of text. But I really want to learn this and decided to make it a goal for myself, and this is why I am making this blog to keep me going.

So come along and bring some popcorn!
